Busson, 44, gave Thurman, 38, a ring so big "she can't fit it through the sleeve of her coat!" a pal tells New York's Daily News.
She wore it Thursday to a benefit for Elton John's AIDS Foundation in Windsor, U.K. "All the ladies' eyes were buggin' out," an attendee says.A family source adds that their engagement is "a done deal. They’re already planning their wedding.”
The two began dating in the summer of 2007.
She told Harper's Bazaar earlier this year that their relationship is mostly long-distance.
She makes twice-monthly visits to London, where Busson is based, but resides in New York "for the sake of my dear children, so they're not subject to to adolescent homelessness from me."
Busson has two sons with his ex-fiance, model Elle Macpherson.
Thurman — who previously dated Andre Balazs — was wed to Ethan Hawke from 1998 to 2004.
They have two children, Maya, 9, and Levon, 6.
